Nebraska State Patrol Employees of the Year Honored at State Capitol

Nebraska State Patrol Trooper Ron Kissler, Troop E-Scottsbluff and Project Manager David Babcock, State Headquarters-Lincoln have been honored by Governor Dave Heineman as Employees of the Year for the Nebraska State Patrol. Lt. Brenda Konfrst, Troop A-Omaha and Tim Meguire, Security Communications Shift Supervisor each received the Supervisor/Manager of the Year award.

Nebraska State Patrol Trooper Ron Kissler, Troop E-Scottsbluff and Project Manager David Babcock, State Headquarters-Lincoln have been honored by Governor Dave Heineman as Employees of the Year for the Nebraska State Patrol. Lt. Brenda Konfrst, Troop A-Omaha and Tim Meguire, Security Communications Shift Supervisor each received the Supervisor/Manager of the Year award.

Trooper Ron Kissler, honored as Employee of the Year is an 18-year veteran of the Nebraska State Patrol. Assigned to Troop E- Scottsbluff, his duty station is Sidney, Nebraska. Trooper Kissler is recognized for his top enforcement actions, public forums on safety, detailed investigative activity and his off duty public involvement in the community in which he lives. He has volunteered his time with animal shelters and conservation groups allowing generations of Nebraskans to enjoy “The Good Life” while protecting those who cannot speak for themselves.

Project Manager for the State Patrol’s involvement in a new statewide radio system, David Babcock is recognized as the Agency’s Employee of the Year. An attorney, Babcock has coordinated the research to identify radios, equipment and computers for the Nebraska State Patrol vehicle fleet. He has assisted in the design, development and contract negotiations for a new building for equipment installation. Babcock has played an integral part in a project that will assist with the saving of lives by reducing crashes and crime.

Lieutenant Brenda Konfrst, who began her career with the Patrol in 1990, was honored as the Supervisor/Manager of the Year. From December 2008-March 2009, Lt. Konfrst served as acting Troop A-Omaha Commander. During that time she directed the completion of several complex projects, and investigations. In her current duties she also oversees the multi-agency Omaha Metro Safety Initiative (OMSI). Lt. Konfrst is honored for her exemplary leadership and dedication to the citizens of the State of Nebraska.

Sergeant Tim Meguire received the honor of Supervisor/Manager of the Year for the Nebraska State Patrol. Sgt. Meguire is a member of the Capitol Security Division of the Nebraska State Patrol. In his role, he was tasked with developing a training program for the State Capitol evacuation plan culminating in a full scale evacuation drill in May 2009. Sgt. Meguire’s dedication, energy and pride in his work is deserving of the honor.

October is State Employee Recognition Month. The award recipients were honored during a ceremony in the State Capitol Rotunda, with a Reception following at the Governor’s Residence.
