Plane Crash

A man killed Sunday night n a single-engine plane crash in a Frontier County field is being identified Monday as 26-year-old Jeremy Hamit of Wallace.

Authorities say Hamit was piloting the plane when it crashed about 7:30 p.m. two miles west and three-quarter miles north of Curtis.

Frontier County Sheriff Dan Rupp say witnesses were able to pull a female passenger, Christine Doremus of Walace, from the wreckage and were trying to remove Hamit when the plane caught fire.

Doremus was taken to Great Plains Regional Hospital in North Platte. She was listed in stable condition Monday.

Witnesses say the plane had just taken off, banked left, then came down in a field 75 yards from a home.

An investigation is being conducted into the cause of the crash.
