Doors at a west Omaha high school were secured while police looked out for a teenage boy who was suspected of stealing handguns from his father.
Officers were sent to Millard North High School on Tuesday morning for extra security as classes continued inside.
A police news release says the 16-year-old boy's father learned that the alarm on his gun safe had gone off, so he went home from work and discovered that two handguns were missing.
The boy, who had been recently suspended from school, was later found a few miles away by his father. The boy had the two guns with him. He was arrested on suspicion of theft.
Police say investigators have not learned of any threats the boy may have made to the school or anyone.
