Dr. Susan Gourley Speaks

Gourley says the District already has good teachers and students. They are just in crowded facilities.
It is up to the School Board to decide if there is going to be a bond issue. If so, Gourley says she will have a large part in leading the issue.
At her School District in Washington State, she helped the district pass a 198 million dollar bond.
After her success there, she says there are two things a district must do to get a bond issue passed.
One of them includes convincing the community that there's a need for the bond issue in the first place.
Gourley says she sees the need for more room for students. She says, "Anytime I drive by a school and see the play space been taken up by portables, I am concerned."
Gourley will take over as Superintendent in July.
