Lincoln Police have released more details into a Wednesday afternoon stabbing. Police believe 56-year-old Roger Einspahr grabbed the five-year-old boy from the sidewalk and took him inside the home into a basement bedroom. Police say that's where Einspahr stabbed the boy with a knife.
Lincoln Police Chief Tom Casady says a staff member of the group home needed a telephone and it was in the north duplex. When the staff member walked inside, he heard crying and found the boy.
Police arrested Einsphahr for second-degree assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
The victim was treated and released from the hospital Wednesday night.
Residents in the neighborhood say they're not all that shocked something like this happened. Janine Stearns says she's contacted the director of the group home and neighbors and planned a neighborhood meeting in her front yard. Stearns says she hopes the director will be able to answer questions of concerned residents' about the home and what goes on inside. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at 400 North Coddington in Lincoln.
