The cuts Gov. Dave Heineman proposed earlier will likely serve as a template for lawmakers trying to deal with a projected $334 million shortfall, but the plan will almost certainly be tweaked over the next couple weeks.
The special session begins Wednesday afternoon.
State Sen. Lavon Heidemann of Elk Creek is chairman of the Appropriations Committee. He says he's already heard from people concerned about the governor's proposed cuts to education, law enforcement and commodity groups.
So Heidemann says he thinks changes are likely, but any cuts lawmakers removed from the plan will have to be replaced with other cuts.
The governor's proposal includes across-the-board cuts to balance Nebraska's two-year budget.
He's ruled out tax increases.
