A project that was 10 years in the making is finally coming to fruition for LSO’s music director and concertmaster.

Edward Polochick and Anton Miller will present a special recital on Sunday, November 15, at 4 p.m. at the Sheldon Museum of Art. The program will include Beethoven’s Spring Sonata, Debussy’s Sonata for Violin and Piano, a set of works by Kreisler, and other music by Vieuxtemps, John Williams and Brahms.

“We are so excited to finally make this dream a reality,” Miller said. “It is music that is close to our hearts and we believe will be equally shared with the hearts of our audience.”

“The best part of playing this program together is that we will be able to showcase Ed's prodigious pianistic talent and musicianship along with the special musical connection he and I have with each other,” Miller said.

Following the recital, Ed and Anton will be available for questions and conversation during a cocktails and hors d'oeuvres reception. The galleries in the museum will be open before and after the recital for no additional charge.

Tickets are $60, and may be purchased through our website or by calling (402) 476-2211.

Polochick, LSO’s music director since 1998, earned a Masters of Music in piano from Swarthmore College and a Masters of Music in conducting from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. He is the founding and artistic director of Concert Artists of Baltimore.

Miller, LSO’s concertmaster for more than 20 years, is currently on the violin and chamber music faculty at New York University and the Hartt School. He previously has been on the faculty of the Oberlin Conservatory and numerous music festivals, including ARIA International Summer Academy, the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, and the New Arts Festival.

The special recital is made possible in part by James and Rhonda Seacrest. The Nebraska Arts Council and the American Restoration and Recovery Act of 2009 also provided support toward LSO’s 2009-10 season.

Lincoln's Symphony Orchestra celebrates its 83rd season with nine exciting performances, including five classical concerts, two family concerts, a holiday concert and a pops concert. The season includes Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, Holst’s The Planets, the Brahms Violin Concerto, Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite, and the Beethoven Symphony No. 9. New subscribers receive a 50% discount on subscription tickets, with a variety of packages available starting at $18.
