Prosecutors say a man who killed a doctor at a state psychiatric hospital in Lincoln erupted in a rage during a court hearing.

Prosecutors said Eric Lewis overturned the defense table Thursday as Douglas County District Judge Russell Bowie was set to lay out his expectations for how Lewis needs to behave during his upcoming trial. Lewis will be tried next week on charges of assaulting three Douglas County corrections officers at the jail.

Sheriff's deputies tried to shock Lewis with the 50,000-volt stun belt he was wearing, but it didn't faze him. They then used a Taser to regain control.

Lewis, known for his courtroom outbursts, was sentenced earlier this year to life in prison for killing Dr. Louis Martin, a psychiatrist, in 2007.

Too many liberal judges. They don't care about Law Enforcement Personnel. Nebraska Judges need to take a look at how Texas and Califorina handles their violent criminals.

WHY WAS THIS GUY NOT IN COME ALONGS IN THE COURT ROOM? CHAINS FOR THE HANDS AND FEET THAT ARE CONNECTED BY ANOTHER CHAIN. HOW MANY TIMES WILL IT TAKE FOR A LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSON TO INJURED BEFORE WE LEARN?
