Deer are crossing roadways and often surprise drivers. Just ask Renee Adams of Ceresco.

Adams was traveling north on Hwy 77 about a mile south of Ceresco, on her way home from work a little after midnight Friday morning when she was surprised by a 7 point buck. Adams struck the deer with her 2009 Kia Optima damaging the hood, grille, and radiator.

"All of the sudden everything just went black" says Adams. When the dust from the airbag cleared she saw the front of her hood crunched.

When asked about her car, Adams says she's had it just over a month and recently made her first payment. "My insurance agent is going to be oh, so happy to get a call from me tomorrow morning," she said.

Sergeant Chris Hildebrand says that Lancaster County Deputies have been busy with multiple calls for accidents involving deer. Hildebrand says the deer are all over the place.

Sheriff Terry Wagner said in Lancaster County, there have been 11 car versus deer accidents since 5pm Thursday. He believes that the late harvest is contributing to the amount of deer coming out of hiding.

Drivers should be aware that deer are moving and do cross roads.

Renee: I feel your pain. I just hit a deer this Monday around the same area you did in my new car. Just like you, I have driven that road for years and never had a problem. My insurance company is not happy and neither am I! The deer came out of no where and I didn't know what had happened except the airbag had gone off, there was a loud boom and then dust was flying everywhere. I still cannot get rid of that horrible smell from the airbag dust! Glad to hear you are ok!
