According to court records, 23-year old Chance Paap was formally charged with manslaughter Thursday in Lancaster County Court.
He was arrested in connection with the October 31st shooting death of 28-year old Nathan Kuhn in a residence at 1431 South 28th Street in Lincoln. Judge Mary Doyle set bond for Paap at 10 per cent of $250,000. Paap did not enter a plea Thursday.
His next court appearance has been set for November 23. Police say Paap told them that he and Kuhn were drinking at Paap's home when Paap decided to get his .45-caliber handgun from his safe. They go on to say that Paap was spinning the gun on one of his fingers when it went off, and the bullet struck Kuhn. Paap said he panicked and fled the state. He returned to Lincoln on Tuesday and reported Kuhn's death to police. Kuhn's body was found inside a closet at Paap's home.
