Police have arrested two people they say stole a checkbook out of the trash and forged more than $1,000 in checks.
Officer Katie Flood said a 62 year old Lincoln man died in April and his family threw out his old checkbook along with other trash. Flood said 36 year old Christopher Muggy and 36 Margaret Stuart dug threw the trash and took the checks, forging 8 of them on July 21.
7 were written all over Lincoln for $1,683. 1 check was written in Crete for $376.
Flood said information on the checks helped lead to Muggy and Stuart. They were arrested Thursday for felony forgery.
