Lincoln Gets Less Water

Now, the natural resources district has approved a deal that gives Lincoln a water right for 700 cubic feet per second flowing by the well field during the summer and 200 cubic feet the rest of the year.

But that's a lot less than the city had asked for.

Lincoln had sought rights to 2,300 cubic feet per second at the well field, which supplies 90-percent of the city's drinking water.

However, Lincoln Assistant City Attorney Steve Huggenberger says the city is satisfied and will be able to provide enough water to meet current and future needs.
