The Nebraska Humane Society has rescued four malnourished horses from a farm in rural Douglas County.
The animals were found with their ribs, hips and backbones protruding from their skin.
The Humane Society's Kristie Biodrowski says the horses didn't have access to food and their scant amount of water was dirty when they were rescued on Monday. She expects them to survive and be available for adoption in a few months.
The Douglas County sheriff's office is considering whether to file charges.

I hope Douglas County HS protect these horses with solid adoption contracts unlike HS in Grand Island where one of the 11 seized last Sept was found at a nearby auction recently and bought by a killbuyer.
