A central Nebraska woman suspected of being under the influence of drugs has been ticketed after crashing her car into two tractors at a farm equipment dealership east of Kearney.

Authorities ticketed 35-year-old Lawrie Powers of Gibbon early Tuesday. She smashed through a power pole and then crashed into the tractors, causing an estimated $42,000 in damage.

She was in fair condition at a Kearney hospital on Friday.

According to Kearney Police Sergeant Kyle Harshberger, at 1:26 Tuesday morning, Kearney Police, Buffalo County Sheriff, the Kearney Fire Department and Good Samaritan Paramedics responded to a single car crash at Kearney Implement, 3100 E Hwy 30.

According to Harshberger, the car was traveling westbound when it left the roadway, hit a light pole and went into the ditch. The car then came back out of the ditch and, according to Harshberger, may have become airborne when it struck a John Deere tractor. The impact with the tractor caused the vehicle to flip onto its side where it came to rest on another John Deere tractor, Harshberger adds.

Sergeant Harshberger says Kearney Fire Department worked for some time trying to cut the woman out of a very mangled car. "She was conscious and alert the whole time they were working on the car" says Harshberger.

Harshberger says the woman was finally out of the car and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital to be checked out for her minor injuries at 2:22 a.m. Harshberger says it is amazing that she was not seriously injured.

Sergeant Harshberger says the car and one of the tractors are both totaled. The other tractor is thought to have "tens of thousands of dollars in damages". Kearney Police are continuing to investigate the accident.
