Black Friday Mania: Man In Line at Best Buy Since Wednesday
Lincoln
If you think you are going to get a head start on Black Friday, think again. There's already at least one person in line at Best Buy at 48th street, and he's been in line since Wednesday at 7 p.m.

If you think you are going to get a head start on Black Friday, think again. There's already at least one person in line at Best Buy at 48th street, and he's been in line since Wednesday at 7 p.m.

21-year-old Ahmad Shakir is hoping to get a couple of laptop computers, and maybe even a High Definition television. The advertised dirt-cheap price is what keeps him motivated.

Shakir is not sitting directly out in the cold. He has a tent to at least provide him some shelter, and he says he's been drinking a good amount of coffee to keep warm. He's also dressed with gloves and a stocking cap.

It seems Shakir thought through almost every situation that might arise. For example, when he needs to visit the restroom, he simply uses a port-a-potty brought in by Best Buy, and some friends of his hold his spot in line. Soon after, he's back in position and ready to face the competitive retail battle that has become Black Friday.

So, if you're planning to visit Best Buy on 48th street, you won't be first in line. But you can certainly marvel at the determination of one man's mission to get a great deal.

Its all in the fun of getting ready for Christmas. I went out this year and only got a few things, but it's still fun. Thank you to all the clerks that had to put up with us crazy people.

Black Friday shoppers aren't Inconsiderate heels? Vultures? Where have you been shopping on Black Friday? Good grief!!

Here we go...another enlighted individual that wants us to leave Jesus Christ out of the CHRISTMAS SEASON. Hey Laurie, as the saying goes: "Jesus is the reason for the season". Sorry, I'm not apologizing for celebrating the birth of our saviour. Of course, in our PC world, I'm supposed to mention that Kwanza and Ramadan are equally important--wasn't Kwanza "invented/developed" in the 1960's? Hmmmm...really has the importance as a birth over 2000 years ago.

Best Buy is overpriced anyway. Shop online if you want to find the best price. You can compare prices, features, etc and usually get it shipped for free. Plus you don't have to venture out into seas of people at 3 a.m. just to get what you want.

don't people realize that come closer to christmas that all of a sudden there will be supply and the daily prices will be the same of the so called black friday. think about it if a business says they only have a limited supply of something that everyone wants then why would they sell it cheaper

My daughter and I was out at Best Buy on Black Friday at 3:00am and stood in line for 2 hours to get into the store to get a few good deals. But people like this 21 year old had to get "Computer's", couldn't just one but had to buy a few of them so other's like me couldn't get in on the good deal because they were all gone. And Best Buy only had 25 laptops on sale for the amazing price of $197 and they were gone. Because of people like this guy. My daughter and I left empty handed!!! But that is okay because we got excellent deals at Walmart, and kindness from Excellent sales people at Walmart. I don't think I will ever shop at Best Buy again!!!!

I didn't read about a guy acting like a vulture or an inconsiderate heel. The story I read was about a young man with some vacation time on his hands and the adventurous urge to do a little urban camping. But, seriously... and I am serious here... not everyone is "celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ" this holiday season. The next month or so does actually incorporate other holiday celebrations that have nothing to do with Jesus Christ. Just so you know.

He ain't an idiot!!! Look at the economy it's going to trash so why not save all the money you can. He could be doing worse things in lincoln.

This is a 21 yr old kid spending his time waiting in line to buy computers. He could have been spending his time doing a lot worse. He certainly doesn't sound like an "idiot" to me.

Seriously! This tells you how valuable time is to Ahmad--wait in line for 36 hours to save a few bucks for items that may/may not be "in stock" by the time he runs to them. Good luck on getting both "wanted" items at Best Buy!! Want a "great" start to a holiday season that is supposed to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ; businesses and media overcommercialize a single day that is supposedly to keep a business viable for an entire year. Please encourage people to act like vultures and inconsiderate heels!!
