The holiday shopping season is upon us. Some people are ditching the long lines and turning instead to their computers.
"Cyber Monday is the Monday after Thanksgiving when everybody goes back to work. Instead of going to work, shops online. So that day is starting to compete with Black Friday," said Jim Otto, Nebraska Retail Federation President.
According to the Nebraska Retail Federation, or NRF, Cyber Monday started out when consumers would return to their offices after the Black Friday weekend and make purchases online that they were not able to make in stores.
NRF says when it comes to deciphering when the busiest shopping day of the year is, there's a toss up between Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Jim Otto said online sales are growing thanks to social networking. Retailers are using Twitter and Facebook to advertise deals.
