Update: Hwy 30 Reopened After Ethanol Spill Near Wood River

Hall County Sheriff's deputies blocked off Highway 30 Friday night after an ethanol spill at the Biofuel Energy Corporation's Pioneer Trail Facility. Officials say the spill happened when a rail car plug fell out during filling.

Clean up of an ethanol spill near Wood River is complete after crews work through the night, according to the Hall County Sheriff's Department.

Shortly after 9:00 pm an ethanol spill was reported near Wood River. Emergency crews could be seen inside the Pioneer Trail Ethanol Plant near the railroad tracks.

Around 10:30 pm Hall County Sheriff's deputies blocked off Highway 30 at the Hwy 30 and Hwy 11 junction, stopping traffic from going past the ethanol plant.

Around 2:00 am Saturday, Hall County Officials opened the road to traffic.

Hall County officials say the spill happened after a rail car plug fell out during filling.
