A Kansas church says it will be picketing a Catholic high school and college in Omaha.

Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kan., says it will set up pickets Wednesday morning at Creighton Preparatory School and at Creighton University, a Jesuit college just north of downtown Omaha.

The church is known for protesting at military funerals to express the belief that U.S. troop deaths are punishment for the nation's tolerance of homosexuality.

A news release from the church didn't mention any new reason for the Omaha protests. Representatives did not immediately return a phone call or e-mail Monday from The Associated Press.

A spokeswoman for Creighton University said it had no comment. A spokesman for Creighton Prep did not immediately return a call.

Everyone has the right to their opinion. Everyone has the right to protest. I do not agree with their reasons, but I do support their constitutional right to express it. Saying they should face criminal charges goes completely against what our country stands for-freedom.

Bible says that if you judge you shall be judged. Better to look first into their own eyes then into the eyes of their own children. Someday they may hear these children say at their graves "oh well, surely my brother deserved to die for the sins of the world. I see no reason to love or show care". Although I think it's too late for they already have done these things.

The community should band together and fill every space with show of positive support for the troops and the USA. Don't give those jerks a place to stand alone - they may have the right to be there but so does everyone else - where ever one of them stand 4 people with a positive message should stand as well and over shadow their ignorance with positive messages. It's amazing that these people would choose to bring such pain on the very people who made the ultimate sacrifice for their freedoms.

These are the same idiots that protested when the 4 boy scouts died. They had signs that said "Your sons deserved to die" and such. I wrote to Ben Nelson asking him to end the terrorism in our city and put a stop to these people. He wrote back and told me that he stands behind the 1st ammendment and freedom of speech. He said they have a right to say what they want to say. I still think these people need to be stopped!

Granted they have the right to free speech, but where is our right not to have to listen or deal with them(Westbrook Baptists). I do not understand how they can take a stand against our brothers, sisters, fathers and mothers serving in our military. They celebrate the deaths of those protecting their right to free speech, maybe they do not deserve that right.

Im a soldier in Iraq, and I firmly believe that these people need to face criminal actions, as well as a good beat down...

The Omaha schools did not start any "war" and by no means is our campus "rampant with deviant sexual behavior". The only reason I can come up with as to why Westboro Baptists feel the need to protest our school is because we have a Gay Straight Alliance. We do not force or suggest that students or the community have any certain opinion regarding the issue of homosexuality, it is simply a group of students celebrating the things that they have in common. The Westborow Baptists need to stay in Kansas and stay away from our campus. We are a family, and will support each other no matter what. They are only creating problems for themselves.

the westboro people are unreal. They should grow up and try to get themselves a life.

I am trying to follow the logic of the picketing...I am assuming that the Omaha schools either started the war or is rampant with deviant sexual behavior. Someone please explain.

can someone explain to me why these crazy people are allowed to protest here? why are they protected more than the poor students who have to endure their irrational rantings? Why is their chosen lifestyle not considered a threat to the children of their 'cult'?

As the saying goes if you can't stand behind our troops feel free to stand in front of them.
