A 21-year-old North Platte man who pleaded no contest to sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl has been given 8-to-20 years in prison.
Tyler Huddleston was sentenced Monday in Lincoln County District Court.
In exchange for his plea in December, the prosecutor dropped charges of burglary and possession of a defaced weapon.
Defense attorney Richard Birch said Monday that the victim had misled Huddleston about her age and that the sex was consensual.
Prosecutor Rebecca Harling asked the judge to give Huddleston a substantial prison term because of the girl's age and because she became pregnant.
As he sentenced Huddleston, Judge John Murphy reminded him about a previous incident, when Huddleston was 17 and the girl was 10.
