Dodge County Clerk and Election Commissioner Fred Mytty wants to shorten his title.
County supervisors on Tuesday will consider his proposal to remove election responsibilities from his office and appoint a separate election commissioner.
Mytty has handled both jobs for nearly 36 years. He says new election regulations enacted in the last several years and a reshuffling of offices in the courthouse have created challenges.
He says state law allows counties with populations of 20,000 to 100,000 residents to have a separate election commissioner. Platte, Cass, Hall and Buffalo counties are among those that have separated the duties.
He proposes supervisors appoint an election commissioner to a four-year term beginning July 1.
