A man serving a life sentence for killing his estranged wife 13 years ago by setting her on fire is asking the Nebraska Supreme Court to overturn his first-degree murder conviction.
Francis Seberger contends in his appeal, among other things, that he received ineffective counsel and that the trial court erred by not suppressing statements he made to police that he says were involuntary.
The high court is scheduled to hear arguments on Tuesday.
Seberger was convicted in 1998 of dousing Debra Seberger with gasoline and setting her on fire at their Papillion home on May 31, 1997. She died about a month later.

There should be no loophole large enough for this cruel, brute to slime through. Lincoln justice system, please speak up for the victims that can not. No one could ever know the suffering that this poor woman had to go through before she died. I do not see any reason for mercy here. I really don't see any reason for tax money to support him for the next 60 years, actually. May God have mercy on his soul.
