Low income working families now can select free food at the Salvation Army’s Food Pantry during the evening with newly expanded Monday hours from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Regular Panty Hours are Monday-Friday, 1:00 p.m-4:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
Walk-ins are welcome.
Additional changes to the Food Pantry program include “Shopper’s Choice” where clients select foods they prefer, while guided to choose a nutritious balance of food from the basic food pyramid.
The food habits of New Americans often differ from those of US born citizens. The Shopper’s Choice option will accommodate a variety of food selections. Shoppers will receive enough food for the entire family.
Shoppers in the food Pantry must bring a Social Security number for each family member, proof of residence and a picture ID.
To keep the Food Pantry cupboards full, donations of food or money is always welcome. Contact Clarice Mackey at The Salvation Army, 474-6263 Ex 104 for more information.
The Salvation Army is located at 2625 Potter Street. Lincoln, NE 68503 (One block north of 27th and Holdrege in Lincoln)
