Douglas County's chief crime-scene investigator will soon have a better idea what he'll face next week at his evidence-tampering trial.
Hearings on several pretrial motions in David Kofoed's case are expected to wrap up Friday.
Kofoed is accused of tampering with evidence in a 2006 Cass County case in which two men were wrongly charged in a double murder.
Special prosecutor Clarence Mock has asked the judge for permission to present evidence from a 2003 case where DNA evidence Kofoed found helped convict Ivan Henk of murdering his 4-year-old son, Brendan Gonzalez.
Kofoed was acquitted in September of federal charges in a case related to the Cass County tampering accusations. His state trial in Cass County is set to begin on Monday.
