Lincoln City Council members unanimously voted Monday to change a city ordinance, put in place in the 1930s that made it illegal for some teens to dance together.

The old law allowed 14 to 18-year-olds to dance, and people 19-years-old to dance in public places, but, for instance, prohibited an 18-year-old and 19-year-old from dancing together, because an 18-year-old is considered a minor.

The new law allows 18-year-olds to dance with those who are younger and older.

Legally, minors are allowed inside bars, but of course, are not allowed to drink until they are 21.

This was seriously a law?! Wow ok so LPS was breaking the rules by letting a student bring a guest as long as they were 20 and under??? Thats my take on that. Oh and I wanna know, if I go out, how are they gonna be able to tell that I am 18 and my boyfriend is 19 or 20? Are they gonna stop every teenage couple dancing and ID them? Everyone is arguing about how busting up marijuana is a waste of police time, I think THIS is a real waste of time, not busting up the drug rings that cause violence and everything else!

What is our world coming to? We are supposed to be a nation of laws! I cannot believe the city has the nerve to disrespect leaders of the past. Bring this law back; it was in place for a reason!
