Attorney General Jon Bruning Wednesday afternoon announced that Steve G. Mulholland, 51, of Tecumseh was found guilty of Online Child Enticement by a Johnson County Court.

Mulholland communicated with an Attorney General’s Office investigator posing as a 15-year-old girl for 4½ months. In February 2009, he arranged to meet at the Johnson County Fairgrounds for sex, where he was arrested by the investigators from the State Patrol and Attorney General’s Office.

“There is no excuse for a man in his 50s to be meeting a 15-year-old girl for sex,” Bruning said. “Thanks to the hard work of these investigators, the only meeting in his future is a sentencing date.”

At the time of his arrest, Online Child Enticement was a Class IIIa felony and carried a maximum of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine or both.

In 2009, the penalty for Online Child Enticement was increased to a Class 1D Felony, which has a mandatory one year in prison, with a maximum sentence of 50 years. The bill, LB97, was part of the Attorney General’s 2009 legislative package.

Sentencing for Mulholland is set for May 3.
