State officials are planning several prescribed burns this spring in Nebraska.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission says the burns will be held when weather and other conditions are right.
The burns help reduce invasive species competing with native species. And the commission also says burning improves wildlife habitat.
Among the areas scheduled for burns are Cedar Canyon, Nine Mile Creek, Arcadia Diversion Dam, Sherman Reservoir, Calamus Reservoir, Summit Lake State Recreation Area, Fort Atkinson State Historical Park, Red Willow Reservoir, Swanson Reservoir, Branched Oak Lake, Bluestem Lake, Burchard Lake, Alexandria Lakes, Rose Creek and Rose Creek West.
