Omaha police said that after a tip from a neighbor, they found a 4-year-old girl caring for her 1-year-old twin sisters at their home. Police said their mother had left them there, alone.

The neighbor said the little girl had called several times on Monday, saying that her mother had left them home alone.

Omaha police said the mother's mother told officers that her daughter likes to party.

Police said the mother didn't come home Monday night, and police didn't find her until Thursday.

Twenty-two-year-old Amber Singleton was arrested on three counts of misdemeanor child neglect.

The publicly listed phone for Singleton is no longer in service. Court records don't yet list her attorney's name.

I was a single parent for years and never left my child unattended, even while I worked and went through college. It's not her families fault, it is HER fault. Anyone with common sense would not do this. Those children need to be put into a home where they will be loved and cherished. Not abandoned. The simple fact is some people should not have children, and people who do things like this should be sterilized so they can't do it again. The only people suffering here are the children!

i think all are jumping the gun.This is a baby raising a baby so we have to look at what type of raising did she have and what type of support system she may have now. Everyone is so quick to jump the gun and assume that they are attacking single parents this is not the issue here. How many of you have even taken the time to find out anything about this girl and her circumstances and I do not condone leaving those children alone/Does she have resources, support systems,what type of issues are going on with this girl. I think your readers need to maybe take the time to watch the blind side. Not everyone has what they need and have no idea on how to get it because society and politics have blocked her way. I just want to express that you do not know all the circumstamces behind this young lady and her life. We are so quick to judge and be judged. She obviously was not raised with a support system . I hate to say it but all this comes from her up bringing. She was obviously raised alone.

I have raised my daughter by myself for 17 years, I never left her in a dangerous situation, and she is an honor student, looking to further her education. Not all Single Moms have problems many are really good moms, please don't put all single moms into the same category as this woman who obviously has not grown up herself!!

The number of single mothers that do this kind of thing are slim to none. I agree it is not fair to try to blame single parenthood on this type of action. It really is a tragedy and thank God nothing happened to these little ones!

Dear A Father! Do not condemn all single mothers! I have been one for 14 years! No father involved what so ever! My children are wonderful, smart and well adjusted people! I am absolutely not condoning what this woman did! I find it appalling but, you have no right to put down an entire group because of the actions of one person!

I bet the mother gets the children back, if she does hope the temperary foster parents teach the four year old how to dial 911.

I wanted to address the concern with the mother getting her kids back. I worked in the foster care system for a number of years and I can pretty much guarantee that it won't happen. If it does, it will take at least a year, probably more. That's if she cares enough to follow the guidelines they give her. I have worked with some parents who honestly didn't know better who were charged with similar cases. Those parents worked hard to get their kids back and really improved their own lives. I have also worked with parents who now saw this as free reign to party and see your kids a few hours a week. Here's praying she can get her life together or that those kids get the loving family they deserve.

A 4 year old can't take care of themselves let alone two 1 year old babies. I feel so sorry for those kids and hope they are taken from such a poor excuse for a parent. They were left alone while she went and had herself a grand old time. Can a 4 year old even change diapers? What about water & food? Those babies were abandoned and I think the mother should be put under the penitentiary for a very long time!!

Misdemeanor? It should be A Felony x3, and bad ones at that, say 10 to 15 years each count, she left them there and they could have easily died by an accident, she's no mother.

It's so sad - anyone can be a parent. Even those who don't deserve it. I hope they remove those children from that "home" and plce them with people who care and really want children.

Why did it take "several" calls to the neighbor to get the police? I think one would be enough! Only misdemeanors for leaving your kids for SEVERAL days? That's possibly attempted murder in OMAHA!!! If the 4 year old would have went outside, they could have been abducted or killed!!! Another young mother who likely was raised by a young mother herself! America!!! Don't have babies without a marriage and a mother/father combo!!! GROW UP and take responsibility America!!!

i just was wondering who comes up with the standards for a MISDEAMENOR charge. seems like maybe it should have been a little bit stiffer judgement in my opinion.4 days that they know about a courageous intelligent 4 year old taking care of herself and two other children. but lets slap moms wrist and return her kids how messed up is this world getting. may god have mercy on all our souls he created intelligent life for a reason and we are wasting all of his creation

What is wrong with these young mothers now days?? This kind of behavior is just not acceptable, you have a responsiblity to take care of your children and make sure they are safe! If you want to party all the time and leave your children home alone then obviously you were not ready to be a mom! I'm a young mother of three myself and by golly my parting days are over and have been for years and I'm perfectly happy. I truly feel sorry for the children involved because they did not ask for this. Just goes to show people's responsibility are not where they should be how shameful!!
