A recent traffic stop may provide a $320,000 boost to the Douglas County Sheriff's budget.
Deputies seized $320,000 cash Wednesday after finding the money in the back of a tractor-trailer.
Chief Deputy Marty Bilek says the truck was pulled over in Omaha for a lane-change violation.
No arrests were made Wednesday. But if the sheriff's department can persuade a federal judge that the money is linked to an illegal activity, such as drug sales, the department will be able to keep the cash.

I agree, when did it become illegal to carry large amounts of cash? What was the probable cause to even seize the money in the first place? If no arrest were made and no illegal activity was going on what gives law enforcement the right to confiscate their cash?

since when is it illegal to transport large amounts of money? when i go on vacation do i need to check with local law enforcement as to how much i can carry without them stealing it from me or using it to beef up their numbers to put more thieves on the street. god help this country when your protectors have the right to take your things first and then ask questions. no wonder the population is beginning to stray back to taking care of their own instead of counting on local support

Why has it become illegal to have cash? The article states that no arrests were made! So why should the government agencies be able to confiscate the money? I've got a couple grand in the glove compartment of my car, is it illegal....NO!

The money should go towards education, not guns and handcuffs- the police are our servants, our guardians! If they keep the money then they are like the mafia- bust you, take your money, then finance more busters, until everyone you've ever met either complies without question to the whims of law enforcement regardless of actual law or common sense or is put in a cage, threatened with violence, or afraid to speak up. WAKE UP PEOPLE THIS IS REAL! NOT NUTCASE CONSPIRACY THEORIES, BUT REALITY! THE BIGGEST GANG IN THE COUNTRY IS RIGHT UNDER YOUR NOSE!
