Seward Police Chief Alan Baldwin says police are investigating the death of 28-year-old Seward High School Teacher Bill Kruger as a suicide. Baldwin says a note was found. The letter indicated that he was under some stress.
Baldwin says Kruger's body was discovered around 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at his residence at 2055 Parkview. Baldwin says the cause of death is a gunshot wound to the chest.
Superintendent Dr. Greg Barnes says Kruger has taught math at Seward for the last five years and was a good teacher who related well with the students and faculty. "He always had a smile," said Barnes.
Kruger was an assistant varsity football coach and also coached junior high wrestling for the district.
Lake Sulc participated on Kruger's wrestling team. Sulc says his death was a shock.
"He was always a father figure to everyone and always friendly to the students," said Sulc.
Counseling services are available at the Seward High School library.
