Lincoln police arrested a man and woman after the recent theft of $16,000 in eyeglass frames and sunglasses.
Officer Katie Flood says 56-year-old Jerome Gilmore and 47-year-old Shireen Tyma were arrested Wednesday night for their involvement in the theft. Flood says 61 pairs of eyeglass frames and sunglasses were taken from the Spec Shoppe at 7121 A Street on July 6th.
Flood says brands including Coach, Fendi, Burberry, Versace and Kate Spade were taken with a total theft loss of $16,544. Flood says back on the 6th, the owner of the store noticed a man and a woman in the showroom. The two told the owner they were looking for glasses for their child, then quickly left. Flood says it was later discovered several eyeglass frames and sunglasses were missing.
Flood says Wednesday, investigators received information that Gilmore and Tyma were involved. She says surveillance was conducted at their address, 2521 R Street #1. Flood says at one point, a female was contacted leaving that apartment. Flood says that person had just bought 13 pairs of eyeglasses. Flood says those glasses were later identified by the owner of the Spec Shoppe as the ones stolen from her store.
Flood says the investigation is continuing but Gilmore and Tyma have been arrested for Felony Theft. Flood says both Gilmore and Tyma have prior convictions for violent crimes.

about time they caught these two. they need to spend some time in a shelter with bars.
That's an average of about $271.00 a piece. I wear glasses and there is no way I would pay that for just frames much less sunglasses.
No one noticed them taking anything? That's a lot of frames to just walk out with. 61 pairs...that would be quite bulky. At least they were recovered.
Looks like they are wearing contacts in the booking photo. Im sure they needed what they allegedly stole to help them see at their place of employment....yea right.
