A 46-year-old North Platte man who is a convicted sex offender has been sentenced to five years in prison for sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl.
Danny Fisher was sentenced on Monday.
Lincoln County prosecutors say the victim's father told police he became suspicious after seeing Fisher buttoning up the girl's bib overalls on Thanksgiving Day.
Fisher admitted in court that he had touched the girl inappropriately, and he pleaded guilty as part of a deal with prosecutors.
Previously, Fisher served a year in prison for first-degree sexual assault of a child. Fisher was convicted of sex crimes in 1989 and 2002.
Lincoln County public defender Robert Lindemeier said Fisher's IQ tested in the low 70s, which is borderline mentally retarded.

Get this guy off the streets FOR GOOD and locked up where he belongs - mentally retarded or not! He should NOT be given more chances to keep violating these precious children. If sex offenders can't keep their body parts to themselves perhaps we need to start chopping them off and see if this is any sort of deterent because "REHAB" is NOT working!
I am guessing it was a family member. Because inviting a sex offender into a home with a child sounds a little scary, does it not? Thanksgiving, and maybe the holiday with the black sheep in the family, sad.
