Lincoln police are trying to find the suspect responsible for breaking into a Stop and Shop convenience store near 16th and Old Cheney Road early Thursday morning.
Officer Katie Flood says around 3:19 a.m., police were called to an alarm at the store at 5640 South 16th. Flood says the front glass door was broken, and she says it appears the suspect used a hammer to gain entry to the building.
Flood says by looking at store surveillance video, police determined the suspect loaded merchandise and lottery tickets in a backpack, and left through the broken front door. Flood says officers started a K-9 track, and discovered some of the stolen merchandise had been dropped east of the store.
Flood says police are looking for a white or hispanic male, with an average build, wearing a baseball cap and dark clothing. He also had a backpack. Some of the items taken included alcohol, cigarettes, and lottery tickets. The total loss is around $250. If you have any information, call Crimestoppers.
