When 17-year-old Dan Smithers of Waverly learned he had Hodgkin's Lymphoma, the news was devastating to their whole family.
After multiple rounds of radiation and chemotherapy, doctor's believe the cancer is now in remission.
Smithers was recently chosen to receive a wish from the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
He knew what he wanted right away, he wished to have his Ford Bronco remodeled.
Smithers also came up with a list of ten things he'd like done to it.
With the help of Bo Pelini and company, Smithers got his wish at the 6th annual Big Red Kick-Off dinner.
Coaches gave Smithers tons of Husker memorabilia and then the keys to his Bronco.
Coach Pelini led him outside where his better than new Bronco awaited.
The Waverly teen says it's a dream come true. "First thing I thought of was to get my truck fixed up. It's all I ever wanted. It looks awesome, everything I wanted, they did. I kind of figured that some of the stuff wouldn't get done but there it is, you see it. It's got everything, everything."
Dan's Bronco is sporting a new sound system, new wheels, and redone interior, among other things.
