16 Train Cars Derailed Near Ethanol Plant in Albion

On Tuesday, August 3 around 10:45 p.m. 16 tanker cars operated by Nebraska Central Railroad derailed near Cargill/Valero Renewables Ethanol Plant in Albion. Speed Limit for trains in that area is 15 mph or less.

The Albion Volunteer Fire Dept, Boone County Sheriff's Office, Albion Police Department, Nebraska State Patrol and the Nebraska Central Railroad agencies all responded to the incident. The Nebraska Central Railroad team accessed the situation and there were no apparent leaks or immediate danger.

Cause of the derailment is unknown at this time. No injuries were reported.
