Beatrice Man Sentenced in Theft, Assaults Cases

A 53-year-old Beatrice man has been sentenced in theft and assault cases.

Sean Cahill had pleaded no contest after prosecutors lowered the original charges.

Cahill was convicted of attempted theft, a felony; and of misdemeanors for attempted strangulation and attempted domestic assault.

Cahill was sentenced on Wednesday to consecutive one-year terms for the misdemeanors and 20-to-36 months for the attempted theft.

That term is to be served consecutive to the other sentences.

Prosecutors say Cahill had possession of motorcycle parts stolen in 2005.

Police say that in May, Cahill attacked his former business partner as she tried to remove the parts from their shop.
