A proposed bill would allow cities to annex land that doesn't border the city limits.
Grand Island Area Economic Development Corporation President Marlan Ferguson said LB 66 would help G.I. develop the former Cornhusker Ammunition plant that sits two miles outside city limits.
"One of the things that we've found is that most of the companies are asking for tax increment financing and because of the state law you only have tax increment financing inside the city limits, he said. "So, we look at an opportunity to see if somehow we can get this area annexed."
