The Chadron airport in northwestern Nebraska will be closed for nine days starting as construction crews fill cracks in the airport's runway and perform other runway and taxiway lighting upgrades.
The airport will be closed Saturday through Sept. 30.
Parts of the Chadron airport will still need to be closed periodically in later phases of both projects, but that it will be able to handle both private and commercial flights during those times.
The runway project is projected to cost $760,000, while the lighting project is estimated to cost about $400,000. Federal funds are covering 90 percent of the cost of both.
