The city of Lincoln is considering a measure to give those who don't pay their parking tickets "the boot."
The boots are orange wheel clamps that are attached to a vehicle's wheel to prevent it from being driven.
Under the Lincoln proposal, the boot would replace towing of vehicles registered to people who haven't paid their parking fines.
The City Council has scheduled a public hearing Monday to consider the proposal. Officials say a tow costs more than $100 for the tow itself and
any storage fees. Removing the boot would cost $50.
In both cases, the owner would have to pay the accumulated fines in order to get access to his or her vehicle.
