Attorneys for a young Bartley man are asking for a hearing to determine whether he is mentally competent to stand trial on a murder charge.
Nineteen-year-old Stathis Kirkpatrick has pleaded not guilty to four felony charges in the slaying of a 14-year-old McCook girl, Kailee Clapp.
Clapp's burned body was found the evening of Jan. 21 in a Bartley cemetery. She had been reported missing that morning from her McCook home.
Kirkpatrick's attorneys filed a motion Thursday for the hearing.
