Custer County's top prosecutor has been named a county judge for the 8th Judicial District.
The office of Gov. Dave Heineman says he's selected Tami Schendt, of Broken Bow, who has been Custer County attorney since 1995. Schendt also has served as Broken Bow city attorney and deputy Custer County attorney.
She graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Law.
The retirement of Judge Gary Washburn created the judicial vacancy.
The 8th Judicial District consists of Blaine, Boyd, Brown, Cherry, Custer, Garfield, Greeley, Holt, Howard, Keya Paha, Loup, Rock, Sherman, Valley and Wheeler counties.
