The former Bellevue police chief has been acquitted of a misdemeanor gun charge.
John Stacey was found not guilty on Thursday in Sarpy County Court in Papillion.
He'd been accused of lending a handgun to Gretna's former City Administrator Colleen Lawry, who did not have the proper handgun certificate.
Stacey's lawyer, James Martin Davis, says Lawry was capable of owning a gun but didn't apply for the $5 county permit.
In December Lawry was sentenced to six months in jail on theft charges stemming from another incident. Prosecutors dropped the gun charge that had been filed against her.
