Authorities say a family reported smoke coming from a hot tub area before a fire destroyed their home near Kearney.
The family reported the smoke early Tuesday, which was coming from an enclosed area on the side of the two-story home.
Fire official says the family of four safely escaped before the fire spread to the house.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Glenwood Elementary is serving as a collection point for donations for the Collison family who lost their home in a fire early this morning.
"For now, the immediate concerns were to try to replace some of the clothing, so we did put out that message with the kids' sizes that we needed, and some other things would be some gift cards to some restaurants and some gas cards and some of those tyes of things to try to help them through the really tough times now," said Principal Tom Joachum.
Items in immediate need include: toiletries, gift cards for gas and food, visa gift cards, gift cards for clothing, girls size 8-10 clothes, girls size 12-14 shirts and pants, men's 34x34 pants and XL shirts, trash bags, towels, laundry detergent and hotel snack food (non refrigerated items only).
Glenwood Elementary has piggy banks at the school for each of the Collison girls in case students are wanting to bring spare change to help out directly.
Glenwood is not taking furniture donations or other household good donations at this time.
