Several people suffered serious injuries in a house fire at 37th & Fowler Ave. in Omaha Tuesday morning. At 9:30 the fire was out but a large number of fire units and firefighters remained at the scene.
Firefighters found two men unconscious in the basement and one on the front porch, all three were taken to the Nebraska Medical Center in critical condition.
A male and female who got out of the house were taken to Creighton University Medical Center in serious condition.
One other person was treated at the scene.
It also appeared that a pet may have died in the fire. Crews at the scene were asking for Nebraska Humane Society personnel to assist in a recovery, not a rescue.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The house sits in a row of older, single story homes.
Neighbors report hearing an explosion before the fire broke out.
