90% of women have risk factors for developing heart disease, according to the American Heart Association.
That's the focus of part three of our series: From The Heart.
It's a disease that is often silent, hidden and misunderstood. Candy Lefler knows first hand what an impact the disease can have on people.
It claimed the life of her 78-year-old mother, who died of a heart attack.
"It is so hard when you are sitting there with someone you love gasping for breath, holding their chest saying that they are hurting," said Candy Lefler.
Candy doesn't want her family to go through what she did with her mom.
