Gov. Dave Heineman is seeking qualified applicants interested in filling a vacancy on the University of Nebraska Board of Regents representing the District 5 seat in southeast, Nebraska. Applications will be accepted through the close of business on Friday, March 8th.

The individual appointed will serve for approximately two years. In accordance with state law, the position will be subject to election in 2014. District 5 encompasses several counties.

The Board of Regents consists of eight voting members elected by district, plus four non-voting student regents representing each of the university’s campuses. The Board supervises the general operations of the university, and the control and direction of all expenditures. The Board meets regularly, primarily in Lincoln, but also in Omaha and greater Nebraska.
