Nebraskans searching for face to face contact with state senators got their wish on Thursday as the organization Americans for Prosperity invited people to a lunch to ask questions and share opinions on policy.
Governor Heineman joined Rep. Adrian Smith and other lawmakers to share their thoughts on Nebraska's current tax system.
"I think for so long to many people has their head in the sand and were not paying attention to what's going on. At this point in time and in this state, people really need to open their eyes and really need to know what's happening and how our tax dollars are being spent," Elaine Steinbeck said.
The event drew in more than 200 people and following lunch, people met with senators from their individual districts.
