A Hall County Sheriff's Office deputy faces a felony charge and has been placed on leave.
Kevin Bombeck is charged with felony theft.
Chief Deputy Chris Rea would not comment on the matter Tuesday, saying it was a personnel issue.
Hall County Attorney Mark Young said the charge stems from money or property taken from the county.
Bombeck is scheduled to be in court on January 23.
