A cold and windy day didn't stop volunteers with the Kearney Area Animal Shelter from holding their first Holiday Furry Scurry.
A 5-K run for owners and their pets kicked off in Kearney with all proceeds going to the Kearney Area Animal Shelter. People and their pets were encouraged to dress up in the holiday spirit. Volunteers said they wanted to do something for the shelter and they were happy about the turnout... despite the freezing weather.
"We're actually really impressed. We have maybe 50 people out here, if not more, plus a bunch of pets. We're hoping to make this an annual thing and hopefully next year the weather is a lot better," said Scheuffele.
Scheuffele says the event was successful and they received many different types of donations that will go to the Kearney Area Animal Shelter.
