Fiddlers from around the country are heading for the Homestead National Monument near Beatrice for the annual fiddling competition.
The competition is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Education Center.
The event draws players of all ages, and about 40 are expected.
Park superintendent Mark Engler told the Beatrice Daily Sun that the event features three classes of fiddlers: junior player, senior player and acoustic band.
The three categories will split a $1,000 prize. The winners can take new fiddles instead of the cash.
The monument is about four miles west of Beatrice.
