A Gage County jury has convicted a Beatrice man of beating and raping a woman in his home last year.
The jury on Friday found 30-year-old Joseph Buttercase guilty of first-degree sexual assault, false imprisonment, strangulation and third-degree assault. He was found not guilty of making terrorist threats.
Prosecutors say Buttercase attacked the woman in July 2011 after they argued at his home. Buttercase testified that he and the woman had consensual sex.
Buttercase faces a separate trial on charges of possession of child pornography. Authorities say investigators found images of child porn on his computer while investigating the sexual assault. That trial is set for Oct. 9.
